Dad and I went to California to participate in his 50th class reunion. We have visited a cousin of dad’s Bud Roux and his wife, who have about ten horses in a community you would never believe people had animals in Riverside California. We visited with Uncle Jack and his new wife Val. What a wonderful time we had. They are in love which tells us that you are never to old to find it.
We went to a meet and greet at the pier in Santa Monica and began the unwinding of years so that dad could visit with old friends and class mates. The most unusual thing for me were the people that greeted him and asked how Mary was and what she was doing. Comments like I was Mary friend, but in your class.
We stayed at his lifelong friends home. Dale van Riessen and his wife Jacque invited. Dale and Dad have been friends since the fifth grade. We enjoyed their company.
Sunday we traveled to Ventura to visit with Bill Ennis and his wife Norma Jean. Bill use to ride bicycles with dad a million years ago. I introduced Bill to the gospel when I was in Chicago and Bill introduced me to Dad. We hadn’t seen him for about twenty-seven years. We attended Church together in their ward. The visit was enjoyable. We then traveled toward Sacramento to visit with Uncle Bill and Aunt Kaluya. We made it to Coloma Monday evening. Our visit with them was enjoyable and as always interesting.
We traveled all day to make it to Salt Lake, and got a motel as dad did all the driving and was beat. We have a doctors appointment tomorrow for dad and then we will travel to Provo to see our newest grandson, Cy.
We will travel to our home in Dolores and back to the grind.
